>>Just thought you should know, If you believe you are 'Born again' then that proves the only reason you are serving God is to get saved. Nobody has the right to serve God only in the interest of being saved. Everyone should be serving God because he is our creator and supreme being - not to save your own skin.<<
Yes partly correct.
Those ‘born again’ are “saved” already (Titus 3:5 2 Tim.1:0 Eph.2:5,8 1 Cor.15:2). As God's Children they would be mistaken by thinking their service saved their 'own skin'. No one serves God and is therefore 'saved'. None are accepted with God based on their works. There's only One way to come to God -- on His terms, in His appointed way. There's no other way to be made good enough, but through Christ's work for us.
The Scriptures declare ‘all under sin’ (Rom.3:9 Gal.3:22) all our righteousness fails God’s perfect standard (Isa.64:6). So Christ died and paid the redemption cost. God, in Christ did what I couldn’t do, He meet the demands of the law perfectly. He died in my place, as the OT sacrifices were on behalf of sinners (Lev.1:4).
I realized my helpless state and knew God wanted to wash my sin away. I thanked Him for dying for me and received Christ as Saviour. I asked Him into my heart and He made me His child and a new person. But that's when I was 'born again'. As a little baby I needed to grow, by feeding on His Word, prayer, witnessing, Christian fellowship, effort, etc. But salvation rests on what He did and is in His hands (Heb.13:5). Isn't He wonderful!!
It’s true nobody has any ‘right’ or hope of serving ‘God in the interests of being saved’ (as Paul says in Rom.4:1-8). But I ‘just thought you should know’ this is exactly what JW doctrine teachers. That none are “saved” so all must work for the Watchtower Society and follow their doctrine so they might be ‘saved’.
It's hard to understand, but the Bible says, "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Cor 2:14). The Holy Spirit is a teacher who reveals the 'truth' and instructs (Jn.14:16-17, 26). Until you are born of the Spirit (Jn.1:13 3:8) you won't grasp the 'deep things of God' (1 Cor.2:10). But 'seek the Lord with all your heart' and you shall find Him.
>>I know you likely think I am an immature teenager who has not seen enough of life to examine what I believe. But- Never in any of my publications I have does it say I am saved because I am a Jehovah's Witness. I do not believe I am saved at all.<<
I realize you are not ‘saved’ or claimed to be. Only those ‘born again’ are “saved” (Titus 3:5 2 Tim.1:0 Eph.2:5,8 1 Cor.15:2). Obviously Watchtower doctrine differs to the Bible. JW’s can only hope obedience to the Watchtower Society might eventual save them.
>>Do you ever sit under a starry sky or under a wonderful tree with flowers all around reading the King James bible (that is personally my fav bible). Pray and think of the beauty that the Lord has surrounded us with. We all need to create our own peace with God. That's what I do - I do not have to be born again to appreciate it. Many organized religions loose the importance of having our own personal relationship with God.<<
Yes indeed I appreciate creation, even though they are tainted with sin. Creation suffers under the fall of Adam. Anyone can appreciate creation but still remain disobedient to God’s Word. And while you desire to create ‘peace with God’ your peace depends on your effort. My ‘peace with God’ is something He’s created and gives (Jn.14:27). He has “made peace through the blood of HIS cross” (Col 1:20). If you don’t have the peace that comes from knowing your sins are forgiven (Rom.5:1) then your ‘peace’ is imaginary.
Regarding relationships, Jesus said, “Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Mt.7:21). Its possible to think we have a good ‘relationship’ with God and be wrong. You strive to create ‘peace with God’. How, if disobedient to Christ's command to be ‘born again’ (Jn.3:3 3:6-7)?
>>Do you think what I do is wrong simply for the fact that I'm a Jehovah's Witness therefore everything I do regarding God must be incorrect. Me appreciating my peace with God does not mean I'm saved it means I am appreciating what God has to offer<<
God does indeed offer peace with Him. But it is only through Christ’s death and resurrection we can have the guarantee of eternal life and the complete forgiveness of sins by His cleansing power. The OT says ‘it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul’ (Lev.17:11). And the NT says, “without the shedding of blood there is no remission” (Heb.9:22). Christ made the one blood sacrifice for sin that insures everlasting life (Jn.1:29). He took ‘our sin in His own body on the tree’ (1 Pe.2:24). This is the peace God offers and it’s through the blood on the cross (Col.1:20). It makes us perfect and empowers us to do His will (Heb.13:20-21). It saves and makes us clean (Heb.9:22). This is “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding” (Phil 4:7). You wrote,
>>And yes Jehovah's Witnesses read different versions of the bible - from what I remember, that was something you said I would be disfellowshiped for<<
I didn’t say any are ‘excommunicated’ for that. But the Watchtower does warn against using other versions (Watchtower 1997 p20 Watchtower 1995 p20). They're regarded accurate only if they agree with the NWT. Every version is regarded incorrect to the NWT, if they differ regarding doctrine.
But you will never have different doctrines than the Watchtower Society. Yours will match theirs, like it or not, or you will be 'disfellowshipped'.
So we come full circle, to the unanswered problem. As said, you are programmed by the Watchtower they control your thoughts, not the Bible. You won’t be ‘born again’ because you follow the Watchtower Society not the Bible. They tell you what to believe think and do. The thinking has been done for you.
I hope you come to know the Saviour who died for you and loves you dearly. He offers ‘peace with God’ “not as the world gives” (Jn.14:27) that is, not something you create by effort. But He gives it in grace, even the knowledge of sin forgiven and eternal life. The Gospel is all about God’s great love – the salvation gift offered for ‘whoever will’ (Rom.9:11 10:11,13). Pray the prayer Terrie, ask Christ to come into your heart today. Ask Him to lead and guide you into all truth. He will, He has promised. See if He has something more to offer than what you have been told by the Watchtower Society. This would be the most important discission you ever make.
