Jehovah's Witnesses

Hi Lisa

So you won’t be celebrating your ‘birthday’ if you join the Watchtower Society :)

>>Yes, they do celebrate Jesus' death. But not in the way your're probably used to and at another date. They come together, pray and talk but just some eat the bread and drink of the cup. The ones who feel that they've a very special relationship to Jehova.<<

Yes they are “the ones who” who think they are the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation 7:1-9. But I know why JW’s don’t ‘feel’ they have “a very special relationship to” God, I will tell you below.

>>Well, I've found out before I went to the meetings that I don't believe in trinity.<<

The Bible says, “the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged” (1 Cor.2:14). So I wouldn’t expect you to know ‘God’ having never met Him personally. Only those with God’s Spirit know God (1 Cor.2:11). And only they have God’s help understanding God’s Word (Jn.14:26).

>>Jesus always talks about his father, not himself. Would you talk like this if you were two persons in one?<<

Jesus always “talks about his father” and himself. And even mentions He is two persons in one –

Philip said, ‘Sir, show to us the Father, and it is enough for us;’ Jesus said, ‘So long time am I with you, and you have not known me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; so why do you say, Show us the Father? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father living in me” (Jn.14:8-10).

And no one has ascended into heaven, but he that descended out of heaven, even the Son of man, who is in heaven” (Jn.14:13).

>>In the Bible, there's often written that Jesus is God. Couldn't that mean, that he is God in the way of thinking and acting? Cause in this way, he is like God.<<

Was God telling the truth? He said, “I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me” (Isa.47:9). Rather than just ‘like God’ the Bible says Christ was “in the form of God” or “equal with God”, but He came to earth “made himself of no reputation, and took upon him….the likeness of men” (Phil.2:6-7 KJV). Paul says Christ was “God manifest in the flesh” (1 Tim.3:16).

He never disputed the charge that he claimed to be God (Mt.26:65-66 Jn.19:7 & 20:28). In fact, He claimed the highest titles which only God could have: -

1. He claimed to forgive sin [Mt.9:1-8]
2. He claimed to judge the world [Mt.10:32]
3. He claimed to give eternal life [Jn.3:26]
4. He claimed to be sinless [Jn.8:29]
5. He claimed to be the object of faith [Jn.8:24]
6. He claimed to answer prayer [Jn.14:13]
7. He claimed to be worthy of worship [Mt.14:33]
8. He claimed to be the truth [Jn14:6]
9. He claimed to have all authority [Mt.28:18]
10. He claimed to be one in essence with God [Jn.10:30]
11. He claimed to have equal authority to the Old Testament [Mt.5:21-22 27-28].

>>I've never experienced a meeting like this, that anyone tells me I had to believe what is written in the "watchtower". Right, they read in it but all what's written there is based on the Bible. To almost every sentence there is a Bibleverse added. All their books and magazines are just a help to understand the Bible. And in fact, it helped me already a lot.<<

And now their books and magazines control you. You are doing their bidding. It’s the way they keep converts and spread their teaching. Every WatchTower book I've read twists, misquotes and distorts the Bible. The JW’s in Brooklyn USA are masters of deceit. They are considered a cult and all their doctrines peculiar to them.

So “based on the Bible”? No! They have their own Bible translation it’s corrupted and changed in hundreds of places to support their doctrine. No Bible scholars or scholars of Biblical languages support their doctrines. They tell you what they want you to believe and fool you. I will be happy to help you understand the Bible, keep writing and ask questions. Don’t let them stop you. Be careful, they more deceptive than you realize.

>>I think what you say about the relationship to God is right. But for all relationships, you have to do something. It's not enough to say, alright, I believe in you, you're there for me, now help me when I need your help. The JW's work for their right relationship with God.<<

Yes ‘real peace with God only comes from the right relationship with God, not my human effort’. But if JW’s fail after “40”, 60 or even 1,000 years of hard labour for the Society, the Watchtower Society has told them they will be lost forever. No peace in that.

How do you get the right relationship with God? By hard work, or just believing there is a God, giving money, or following a religious organization? No, none of those things.

But all who have received Him, to them — that is, to those who trust in His name — He has given the privilege of becoming children of God; who were born not by human descent, nor through an impulse of their own nature, nor through the will of a human father, but from God”. (Jn.1:12-13) It’s not you ‘doing something’, it’s something God does. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph.2:8-9).

So you must be "born" into the right relationship. The only way to become one of God’s family. "I truly tell you,” said Jesus, “that unless a man is born again he cannot see God’s Kingdom" (Jn.3:3). Have you had a born again experience?

It’s not a conversion to a religious group. If you want to come to Christ, don’t follow a religious organization follow Him. Come as you are, on His terms. It’s through what He has done on the Cross. We must realise we are sinners, in need of a Saviour (Jn.3:3,6 Rom.3:23 6:23 Heb.9:27) that we can’t save ourselves (Pr.14:12 Ac.4:12 Jn.14:6 Gal.2:16) that God has provided for our salvation (Isa.53:6 Jn.3:16 Rom.6:23). Then, we ask Him to come into our heart, wash us clean and be our Lord and Saviour.

>>With the knocking on door, they want to help people to find to God. In opposite to other religions, they do something for people, and for that, they spend their free-time. Of course, they don't want to force anyone, so if someone says definitely no, they won't visit him/her again. <<

No JW’s are trying to win converts for the Watchtower Society and pushing their doctrines not the gospel. Their way ‘to find God’ is the Watchtower Society. They push a system of teachings and a life long labour for a cult. Of course Christians should serve God, but only His children can. Instead Jesus is knocking on their door wanting to help JW’s ‘find God’. When JW's come to my door they're shocked, I know more about what they believe than they. So I’m happy to try to help you.

>>I think, I am open to seek the truth. But I'm happy, that I found the JW's cause I like what they say. But I'm trying to learn about other religions and what they teach. May I ask, to which religion you belong to? So I'd really appreciate if you told me more about your religion/beliefs. Regards, Lisa<<

I hope you are ‘open to seek the truth’. I have found “the truth” - “Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me” (Jn.14:6). When you come to know Him, you have the truth, the life and the way to God.

What's my religion? All human attempts to be right with God are religion. The gospel is the exact opposite. God Himself acts and moves towards men. The Biblical way is not a religion. The Watchtower Society is a religious system of conditions, rules, commands, and human effort to please God. Like an Eight-fold Path to earn something.

Religious people are trying to work for salvation by good works. True some make their Christianity into a religion, but true Christianity is different. Christianity is God’s search for man. True Christianity is not a religion; it’s a relationship, a focus on One Person. In all sects, cults and heresies their leaders point a way to God, but in true Christianity Jesus points to Himself as God. Christ has brought God down to earth religion tries to bring man up to God.

I hope this helps, if there are questions do write. I end with that warning I gave last time -

Be careful of the outward appearance of false 'religions'. They substitute a religious system for the Gospel. They tell you your feelings of sin and guilt before God can only be answered by serving the Watchtower Society. And that you can only be saved, have peace and know God if you follow the Watchtower Society.

Hoping you come to know the truth and Christ as your Saviour.
