"Fact 2" I argue the Bible and Book of Mormon contradict each other on the doctrine of salvation.
The bible.................. says salvation is a free gift by grace.
The Mormon Church... says salvation is by works, keeping the law, and following Mormon doctrine.
Only one can be right. Where we spend eternity depends on this. So, how can you get right with the biblical God? (keep in mind, the biblical God is not the god of Mormonism).
Hi there. You wrote,
>>Hopefully you are saving your difficult questions for later. Either that, or you are a total pushover. First of all, you need to prove your basic statements. Since you cited no specific verse in either the bible nor the Book of Mormon, you are at best giving me your flawed understanding of what you think or heard about how it reads. I already seriouisly doubt if you have EVER read the Book of Mormon, based upon your FALSE statement. I need only to quote (to keep it short and simple for you) 2 Nephi 2:4... SALVATION is FREE.<<
The Mormon Church say that verse refers to a universal resurrection (see vs.3 & Alma 42:23). They say Jesus' atonement enables everyone to be resurrected, but salvation is conditional on works (Mormon Doctrine pp 24 & 669. Articles of Faith pp 89-90 Doctrine of Salvation 1:133-134).
Mormon Catechism "Article 3: We believe that through the atonement of Jesus Christ all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinance of the gospel". So salvation is not "free", a person must do all the works that they can in order to qualify to receive grace (2 Nephi 25:23 Moroni 10:32).
Yet what kind of atonement can there be in a system in which sin is a work of necessity and virtue? The bible says there is no other way to be saved from sin but through accepting the work done on the cross for us by the true Jesus Christ (Jn.14:6 Rom.10:13-17 Acts 4:12).
>>There is no way even a decitful bloke such as yourself could even attempt to twist such a short and concise statement. So, game over you lose.<<
Didn't you know the Mormon Church teach 'Salvation' has conditions? "This is called salvation by grace coupled with obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel… we are saved after all we can do… it is received only on condition of faith, repentance, baptism and enduring to the end in keeping the commandments of God" (What Mormons Think of Christ p.33 B.R McConkie).
That's why celestial marriage, polygamy, ceremonies for the dead, laying on of hands, wearing secret underwear, etc, relate to the process of salvation.
In contradiction the bible says, salvation is "not of him that wills, or of him that strives, but of God that shows the mercy" (Rom.9:16) Salvation is "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us" (Titus 3:5). It is "by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Eph.2:8-9).
>>Now, I challenge you to print this response without alternation in your website of lies. I know you won't though, because you are a liar like Satan your father. Good Day!<<
My quotations from Mormon literature 'lies'? They don't disclose peculiar teachings and beliefs outright or there would be no converts. They wait until you are thoroughly entrapped and committed to them.
So who to believe Joseph Smith or Jesus Christ? There's only one way to become a Christian - Jesus said, "You must be born again". "Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit" (Jn. 1:13 3:6-8). Never had this spiritual birth? Then all religious practices and belief are no avail.
True Christianity is all about a Person not a religion. Salvation is receiving Christ as your personal Saviour from your sin. Jesus said, “I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by Me” (Jn.14:6).
The Mormon Church in contradiction says, "If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation. There is no salvation outside the Mormon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" (Mormon Doctrine p.670 B.R McConkie).
Who will you entrust your soul to – Joseph Smith or Jesus Christ?
